Borneo, an island comprising the Malaysian States of Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan, the Independent Kingdom of Brunei and the Indonesian Provinces of Kalimantan - Possibly referred to as the "Land below the Wind", by the seafarers of old as reference to all lands south of the typhoon belt. However, American writer, Agnes Newton Keith used the term as a title of her book and has then became synonymous to Sabah.

North Borneo under the British
In 1878, North Borneo was leased to Gustavus Baron De Overbeck and Alfred Dent representing the British North Borneo Company or North Borneo Chartered Company. It became a British Protectorate until WW2, and till 1946, when it became the Colony of British North Borneo. The North Borneo Chartered Company Crest logo "Pergo et Perago" in latin means "I undertake and I acheive".
